PlayStation gamers ran into a massive outage with Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) succumbing to issues Monday night. The outage had registered across various consoles such as the PS 4,PS5, PS Vita and even went as far back as with devices like the PlayStation 3. It did not take long before the gamers who wanted to have a nice evening of gaming or this Sunday were disappointed even more, since, as we explained here in this other article, went down almost all games that are played online.
Why is my PS5 not connecting to online services?
The problem was confirmed to have affected the official PSN Service Status page, which said “You may have some difficulty launching games apps or network features.” We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.” Sony put this notification on their site this morning in response to reports rolling in from all over the world of connectivity issues.
PlayStation Devices Common Problems
The outage touched on everything from gaming to network features on PSN. Players are annoying, who wanted to login good but you want play multiplayer games or playing the single player mode with a connect profile impossible. The issue impacted multiple PlayStation platforms, including the PS5, PS4, Vita and PS3. Affected categories included “Other, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5” according to the service page which confirmed that this outage is affecting virtually all of PlayStation’s services.
One of the errors that some users faced was narrowed down to ‘PS5 error Code WS-116522-7’, which Sony’s error webpage describes as a system software update issue. Until the network is up again, players will not be able to launch games or use apps. Offline games which don’t need to access the PSN also remained operational, a small consolation for those with their network privileges revoked.
Cause and resolution time were not known.
Sony has yet to offer any explanation for the outage. Furthermore, the microblogging platform has not provided a timeline for when it will be able to fix the issue. This is a notable time for the outage, as it has been resolved just hours after Sony dealt with an unrelated problem affecting the home screen artwork of PS5 games earlier in the day. However, it is unclear if the two incidents are related as a bug was fixed closing six hours before the network crash.
Sony has acknowledged the disruption, but resolved an issue related to players not being able to sign in or create a new account. Sony provided the following update on the same: “We are working to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Gamers Waiting for a Fix
Online games and applications that rely on the network are mostly stunned, but many offline campaigns are still functional, so if you had playing a solo game under your sleeve, Time to jump. Whatever the case, we still know that many gamers are tired of waiting for the PlayStation Network to come fully back online. To this, we have no answer on when that will happen.
Sony is still looking into the issue, and for now it is recommending that users just be patient and keep an eye on each update to ongoing PSN issues posted on the status page. In the interim, online play and other affected features continue to encounter disruptions across the PlayStation line-up.
